What is laser skin rejuvenation?
Laser rejuvenation is an effective, painless way to lift and restore tissue that has already started to sag. This cosmetic treatment targets visible signs of ageing, sun exposure and smoking, and gives the skin back its radiance and elasticity.
The method builds on an observation made more than 25 years ago: light of a certain wavelength "excites" skin cells and activates fibroblasts, which start producing large amounts of collagen again. Today, deep stimulation of the skin is the basis of laser lifting. Collagen production is not a one-off effect: the treatment restores it to the level of younger years and keeps it going.
Non-ablative laser: no wounds
Lasers fall into two main groups: ablative and non-ablative. Ablation means damaging, in effect burning, the surface layer of the skin. When the epidermis is damaged, recovery takes a long time. CO2 lasers, for example, are ablative, and recovery can take more than a week.
Laser rejuvenation at Abi Beauty uses a non-ablative laser. It heats the deeper layers of the skin without breaking the surface layer. There are no wounds afterwards, which limits the risk of infection and greatly shortens recovery.
Not the same as hair removal. Laser hair removal removes hair, while laser rejuvenation works on the structure of the skin. The two use different device settings and are not interchangeable.
How many sessions do you need?
Some clients notice the effect after the very first session. We take an individual approach and plan the sessions around what your skin needs.
- Number: 3 to 5 sessions are recommended.
- Interval: every 7–14 days.
- Length: 30–50 minutes per session.
- Extra: depending on your situation, additional sessions may be needed for the best result.

The treatment is for people over 18, with no upper age limit. Full face and body rejuvenation suits people over 35, while individual fine lines can be treated earlier. It works for both women and men. Women most often treat the face, neck and hands; men choose the areas they prefer.

Preparation and contraindications
Unlike many cosmetic treatments, no preparation is needed. There are a few important restrictions:
- Not done on a recent tan, or if you will be in the sun straight after the session.
- Not done during pregnancy or with certain medical conditions.
- Not done while you are taking antibiotics that are incompatible with the treatment.
- If you have Botox or fillers, tell the specialist so the wavelength can be adjusted and those areas are not heated.
